All the World's a Stage

from CA$250.00

We’re all playing roles—that’s the idea, and you never really know who you’re dealing with. This fox stands in as a certain archetype—clever, weathered, self-assured. Maybe dangerous. He wears a velvet coat with golden buttons, his hands are human, ring flashing, nails dark. Shakespeare said we’re all merely players—and this one knows it. Like anyone who’s worn too many masks, he’s learned to blur the line between role and self. Like he knows the roles we play can be armor and costume all at once.

Because sometimes pretending is survival. And sometimes, it’s the only way we’re seen.

Available as an original painted canvas, or an archival pigment print on 100% cotton Rag Fine Art paper in 3 sizes.

i have been working on this painting for months trying to interpret what she wants. this is the biggest painting I’ve done (almost 5 ft) and, though i tried to add color, she keeps asking for white and black simplicity.

The universal rules of womanhood go something like this: be polite; be thin; hide all signs of ageing; put all attention to your appearance; become a mother; don’t be too ambitious or loud; carefully craft every moment of your child’s day

the Biblical Story of Creation and Eve’s “lapse” in judgment (when she became duped into eating an apple by a wily serpent despite God’s orders not to do so) has been used to justify everything from “si
